Transition year provides student the opportunity to study subjects they may have not tried in their Junior Certificate years. Woodcraft is a transition year subject that focuses on project based woodwork. The highlight of the year comes with the Bodhran making. The bodhrán is the heartbeat of Irish music. This ancient framedrum is traditionally made with a wooden body and a goat-skin head, and is played with a double-headed stick called a cipín, tipper, or beater. As well as Woodcraft students may sample Solidworks, skecthing and board drawing associated with the leaving certficate subject Design and Communication Graphics.
